APPIKONDA BEACH

Appikonda also known as Kapilakonda is a small village located at a distance of 18kms from Vizag, on the coast of Bay of Bengal. The place has given a religious significance because of the existence of a Siva temple. The major attraction of the temple is a life size bull carved out of black stone. It also contains inscriptions dating back to 12th Century AD, with a mention that this village was granted by a commander-in-chief of the Cholas for the maintenance of worship in the temple.

The Lawson's Bay Beach is a beautiful and secluded beach in Vishakhapatnam. This beach is overflowing with luscious greenery and lies close to the relatively popular Ramakrishna beach on the way to Kailasagiri Mount from Visakhapatnam.

The beach is popular amongst tourists for its crystal clear water and calm waves that are well suited for swimming, surfing and sun bathing. It is renowned for its natural beauty, with its golden wheatish sands used as a resting place for sunbathing by many.






BHEEMILI BEACH

Bheemili or Bheemunipatnam has the 24 kilometers seaside street through Vizag till Bhimili is the lengthiest seaside streets in Indian. These sun-kissed seashores is a treat to watch

Bheemunipatnam Beach lies at the mouth of Gosthani River joining the Bay of Bengal and forms an alluring recess to the town. The confluence point of River Gosthani into the Bay of Bengal is a scenic view from the hilltop temple.

Dutch is known as Bimilipatnam. Bheemunipatnam was one among the major Dutch settlements of the Dutch Coromandel coast in the 17th century. There are remnants of the Dutch East India Company trading post when the town was a port. The town contains one of the oldest Christian cemeteries on the coast. Bhimili also had a currency mint during the times of Dutch. 

The lighthouse was established dated to 1868 that acts as a citadel on the shores of Bheemili beach. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Narasimha on a hillock. Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swami has set up the Vedic Adhyayana Research Institute Jeeyar Ashram on the immaculate beach of Visakhapatnam-Bheemunipatnam Road.


RAMA KRISHNA BEACH

Rama Krishna Beach alias RK beach is located on the east coast at a distance of about 5km from the city centre. This beach occupying the largest part of the seafront, is a great spot to spend time leisurely. The R.K. Beach was jointly developed by the Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam (MCV) and the VUDA. The submarine museum, visakha museum, sri ramakrishna mission ashram, an aquarium, the Kali Temple, statues of prominent personalities, road side restaurants and parks are the added attractions of the RK beach. The war memorial called 'Victory at Sea' at the shore of the beach which was constructed as a homage to soldiers of the 1971 war is worth visiting.
